How the Spotlight Works

🎞 1. Long-Form Documentary (10–15 minutes)

Our long-form documentary is the main episode for each feature. It tells the deeper story of a person or small business in Edinburg—who they are, how they started, what they’ve overcome, and how they impact the community. It’s a cinematic, human-centered film, not a marketing video.

🎬 2. Short Documentary (3–5 minutes)

The short documentary is a fast-paced, day-in-the-life film that shows how the business or individual works. It focuses on process, movement, and workflow—what happens behind the counter, in the shop, or on the job—so viewers can see how things actually get done.

📷 3. Documentary Photo Collection

Alongside video, we create a curated photo collection that captures the essence of the person or business. This includes stills from their world, portraits, details, and moments that reflect who they are. These images can be used for our catalog, covers, and optional printed or digital photo books that serve as a visual legacy.

📱 4. Social Clips

From each feature, we create short clips for social media. These include key moments, reactions, quotes, and behind-the-scenes pieces that can be shared on platforms like Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube. Social clips build hype for the episode and give both the show and the business ongoing content to share.

🎤 5. Behind-the-Scenes (BTS)

BTS captures how the show is made: the crew filming, setup, interactions, fun moments, and real work that happens around each shoot. It shows both the subject and our team in action, giving a raw, honest look at the process. This content is used for archives, future edits, and to show the reality behind the camera.

🍿6. Entertainment Segment (Interview Games & Activities)

This is the fun, interactive part of the experience. We design a simple game, activity, or challenge around the person or their world, then mix it with questions about their story, the city, and their views. It’s meant to be light, engaging, and memorable—showing their personality in a relaxed, entertaining way.

How each featured story becomes a cinematic episode and part of Edinburg’s living documentary archive.

Edinburgh Spotlight is a citywide documentary experience that captures the spirit, history, and unfolding stories of the people who shape Edinburg. When someone secures a Feature Spot, they become part of a larger narrative — a story told through pieces of their past, the world they live in today, and the hopes they carry forward. Our team steps into their world to explore meaning, emotion, purpose, and identity, preserving their story as part of an ever-growing portrait of the city. Each feature becomes an episode within our public archive — a body of work viewers can return to, learn from, and connect with over time.

For viewers, each Spotlight episode unfolds through six cinematic elements: the long-form documentary, the short film, the photo collection, social highlights, behind-the-scenes moments, and an entertainment segment that reveals personality and humanity. These pieces invite audiences to see Edinburg through the eyes of its people — to understand their journeys, appreciate their craft, and witness moments that might otherwise go unseen. Together, these features form a living archive of the city: a visual record, a storytelling catalogue, and a collection of memories that document Edinburg’s culture, creativity, and community for years to come.
